NorCal Filmmaker Rides Photoshop Spoof Viral Wave

In case you have yet to watch the absolutely killer beauty product TV ad spoof “Fotoshop by Adobé,” here it is:

The super-slick send-up re-imagines the media industry’s fondness for Adobe Photoshop celebrity and  fashion model picture retouching as a faux-European glamour product. It was made by Jesse Rosten, a 31-year-old independent filmmaker from the Northern California city of Redding. He has been all over the media this week while also fielding queries on Twitter and greatly enjoying the ride:

FishbowlLA caught up today with Rosten via email. He shot the spot last August but then had to put it aside for a bit while he worked on client projects. Rosten earns his living working on real TV commercials, and has also made several short films.

As far as his new celebrity status in Redding, he says things remain suitably mellow. “I’m getting lots of pats on the back,” he reveals, “and they featured the spot on the local news. That was fun.”

“This town has always been really supportive. Sometimes it’s hard to source gear and talent, but Redding makes up for that by being super laid back. You can pretty much shoot anywhere, anytime, and never get hassled. Plus, this is such a gorgeous place to live.”
