KTTV Launching Dating Site…Strange But True
KTTV will launch a new online dating service that plays off the name of one it’s flagship L.A. shows, “GoodDateLA.”
The site, if you’re conservative enough to apply started accepting profiles on Wednesday and prospective dates are expected in mid-January.
We here at FBLA assume that it might be one way to find the right one, but if “GoodDateLA” is anything like its originating show “Good Day L.A.,” then all we can say is good luck.
Press release is below:
KTTV FOX 11 LAUNCHES “GOOD DATE LA”
Free, Local Dating Site Accepting Profiles for Singles in the Los Angeles Area
LOS ANGELES –- KTTV FOX 11 has launched “GoodDateLA,” a free online dating site designed to connect singles in the Los Angeles area, announced Kevin Hale, the station’s Vice President and General Manager. The site will begin accepting profiles on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, and registered users are expected to be able to start dating in mid-January 2009.
In making the announcement, Hale stated, “‘GoodDateLA’ is designed as a fun, easy-to-use and inexpensive way for Los Angeles-area singles to get to know other local individuals looking to date. Rather than looking for love in all the wrong places, we’re helping potential daters narrow down the playing field.”
To create a profile, potential daters can go to GoodDateLA.com or MyFoxLA.com and follow six steps. These prompts will ask them to provide some basic information about themselves and their ideal date, tag their interests, as well as upload photos and video. Once dating begins, the tags will serve as a search feature that will allow users find other singles that share their interests. There is also an advanced search feature that allows individuals to identify potential daters by criteria such as city, zip code and age.
When individuals find someone that they would like to date, they can click the “date me” button and an e-mail message will be sent to the person in which they are interested. The on-site message center allows daters to inquire after others without having to give out any personal information. All profiles are vetted prior to being posted.
