LAT Turns An Investigative Eye On Itself

mushroomcloud.jpgWe were ready to roll our eyes when we read in LA Observed that the LAT plans to revamp itself “to get readers excited about the newspaper again,” doubly so when we learned the name of the revamp plan is the Manhattan Project, which, if we remember correctly, didn’t end so well for the safety and health of the planet.

But then the piece goes on to say that the revamp is being pushed by Investigations Editor Vernon Loeb and a group of investigative reporters.

Well, now we’re totally behind it. What a fantastic idea! Instead of having these guys go out and report the news that would drive readers to pick up the paper every morning, squirrel these guys away in a conference room and have them spend months wondering what they should be doing instead. Eventually, we hope, they’ll get it.
