Mark Ruffalo: Eternal Overcast of the Politically Minded

Taking a page from Sean Penn, Mark Ruffalo was front-and-center at an anti-war, anti-Bush, anti-administration rally that drew thousands to downtown L.A. on Saturday.

The Zodiac star made it clear that though he wasn’t political before, he’s since acquired a graduate degree in civil disobedience.

“I’m terrified,” Ruffalo told FBLA. “It just so happens that as time has gone on I’ve gotten more and more frightened by what I’m seeing happen in the world, especially with the United States and the consolidation of power into our executive branch and the shredding of our Constitution.”

Heady stuff, Mark.

Like a true movie-star parent, Ruffalo said his main concern isn’t for himself but for his kids — a 6-year-old, a 2-year-old and a newborn.

“They have their sights set on Iran now,” said the actor (speaking, we think, of the Bush administration, and not his children). “If we attack Iran, I think it’s going to be hard for China and Russia to stay out of the fray. I’m not sure at this point in time the way we’re trying to deal with these problems is actually constructive.”

Uh-huh. Look, we love our celebs smart and all, but maybe you should be spending as much time focusing on your career as on the state of the union — Reservation Road, Mark?
