Mediabistro Alum Writing Book about Morning TV Shows

Brian Stelter, New York Times media reporter and founding editor of our sister blog TVNewser, was shocked to learn that no one had written a book about television’s many morning news shows. So he decided to do it himself.

Stelter describes morning shows as “the axis upon which the TV world turns,” and believes they carry more cultural importance than they are given credit for. He tells TV Newser, “Media reporters, myself included, don’t pay enough attention to morning television. I’m hoping this book helps change that.”

Tentatively titled The Top Of The Morning, the book will be Stelter’s first, and he expects it to be a challenge. As he confessed to the NY Observer, “I don’t know how to write a book. I know how to write a Tumblr.”

More words, less pictures. How hard can that be?
