Paper Cuts Hits 1000 for the Year…Already
Journo Erica Smith, whom we’ve dubbed the Newsroom Angel of Death because of her vigil in the form of a Google map of all the jobs lost in the newspaper industry nation wide, has informed us that her yearly tally has already hit and passed 1000.
Of course, last year saw 15,554 jobs lost in the industry total. Still 2007 only had 2,185.
We thought it was clever to mention on Memorial Day last year that there had been a whopping 3,000 jobs lost. Eep.
