THR Parent Company Exec Denies His CEO Days Are Numbered

The New York Post continues its excellent reporting on Prometheus Global Media, the parent company of The Hollywood Reporter, AdWeek, and Billboard, with news of an internal memo informing top-tier staff that CEO Richard “Mad Dog” Beckman is surrendering day-to-day managerial duties to his boss, chairman Jimmy Finklestein. All apparently so Beckman can focus on a new branded entertainment unit.

The Post also slants the piece, with help from unnamed insiders, to suggest that the move is a likely prelude to Beckman permanently stepping away from his CEO post. Not so fast, Beckman insists. Reached for follow-up by TheWrap, he refuted the read:

Said Beckman; “I am the CEO, I was the CEO and I will continue to be the CEO.”

TheWrap article is co-bylined by Sharon Waxman and her former-intern-turned-media-reporter Lucas Shaw. On a side note, TheWrap really needs to do something about the trolls cluttering up the website’s comments sections. Far too often, TheWrap comments seem to be commandeered for the purposes of off-topic insults and reprimands.
