Sally Horchow Double-Dips at Vanity Fair

vfpage.jpgOne last peek inside the Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue before it marches off to the Valhalla of out-of-date glossies: on page 204, Sally Horchow has a Fanfair item about the Proscenium Club, a “newly minted gang of Hollywood insurgents” who support the Los Angeles Music Center by organizing and attending philanthropic events. She writes that the Club was started by Hearst Entertainment executive James Deutch and “six like-minded cofounders.” Horchow goes on to breathlessly report that with its September launch event, the club “achieved the seemingly impossible: it got 250 young execs to weather downtown traffic for something other than courtside Lakers seats.”

What Horchow doesn’t reveal anywhere in the piece is that she co-founded the organization which she’s writing a glowing magazine article about. From the Music Center website (my italics):

Proscenium Club’s Founding Committee are; James Deutch, Lisa Firestone, Peter Giblin, Lara Harris, Jay Hayes, Sally Horchow McCauley & Marsha Oglesby.

If this conflict-of-interest weren’t so blatant and pathetic, it would be unethical.
