‘Schweddy Balls’ Ice Cream Pays Homage to SNL, NPR
Ben & Jerry’s is introducing a new ice cream flavor, “Schweddy Balls,” and it’s more appetizing than the name suggests. The company describes the limited edition flavor as “fair Trade vanilla ice cream with a hint of rum and is loaded with fudge-covered rum balls and milk chocolate malt balls.” My mouth’s watering just thinking about those balls.
“Schweddy Balls” is inspired by the beloved Saturday Night Live skit featuring a fake NPR show called The Delicious Dish. In the sketch, Alec Baldwin plays special guest Pete Schweddy, whose culinary specialties are his balls – popcorn balls, rum balls, cheese balls, and more. “No one can resist my Schweddy balls,” brags Baldwin.
The ice cream flavor is available nationwide, sold in both pints and Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shops.
