SF Media Miffed They Got Shut Out of San Bruno…LAT Got In Though

Joe Eskenazi at SFWeekly writes:

It would be hard to begrudge San Bruno police for moving to keep non-emergency personnel out of the neighborhood impacted by last week’s blast and fire. On Friday, police declared the incinerated areas a “crime scene,” which severely restricted access.

Again, a hard move to bemoan. And yet, by using the designation “crime” and not “disaster,” media access to the neighborhood has been largely curtailed.

The Bay Area media is all incensed that they are not being given access to the gas pipeline disaster than incinerated a neighborhood near San Francisco last week due to it being declared a crime scene.

Of course LAT reporter Molly Hennessy-Fiske and photographer Don Bartletti have clearly been inside and around the proverbial ground zero for this tragedy. Evidence here. And here. And here.

Hey, Bay Area media – you STINK. Talk smack about LA all you want – we’re mopping the floor with you with a story that happened right under your nose. Stop your whining and DO YOUR JOB.
