Actor and comedian Sam Seder re-launched his former Air America show Majority Report today. This time he’s using a subscriber and membership model to independently produce a daily Internet radio show bearing the same name. With a 250 square foot office in the shadow of the New York Times, Seder, star of the hilarious series Pilot Season, and two of his former Air America staff have joined with web developer and fan Kyle Shank to bring back the popular political talk show.
The show officially launched today and we hear it debuted at #28 on iTunes.
Sam Seder, comedian, radio host and freelance Twitter spellchecker, is doing a new series on the YouTube titled “That’s Bullshit.” This week Seder and the substance he speaks of are all over net neutrality and the “non-evil” but pretty evil plans of Verizon and Google.
The LAT ran a story about an open programming slot on MSNBC (we’d argue it’s the entire weekend line-up – hello Locked Up? – but no one asked us).
The grass-roots campaigns were triggered by the news that the cable channel is contemplating creating a new show for its 7 p.m. time slot, currently occupied by a repeat of “Countdown With Keith Olbermann.” That prompted the launch of independent Facebook groups extolling the merits of two radio hosts: Cenk Uygur of the Internet show “The Young Turks” and Sam Seder of Air America.
We’re torn. We like that Cenk Uygur and crew are local yokels. The internet show is filmed on Miracle Mile. Of course, Sam Seder is a comic. We will always be on the side that hooks up any comedian with full-time employment. Sorry Norm Coleman, you never had a chance with us.
