Update: Ray Richmond has More than 38 Words, and He Knows How to Use Them

Tough-guy reporter Ray Richmond told FBLA more about his reaction to Ellen Burstyn’s Emmy nomination:

I don’t know which left me more perplexed–the fact that the TV community is lah-di-dahing this or that Burstyn is too sanctimonious to acknowledge the absurdity of getting nominated for a mail-in cameo. Either way, it underscores how frighteningly irrelevant the Emmys have grown.
She could cover herself with glory for being the first performer to renounce a nomination for all the right reasons. Nineteen days left–the clock is ticking.

TV is Ray’s meat and the Emmys his natural stomping grounds, so he’s thinking ahead to the time when there’ll be a category for actors who are just mentioned in a script, such as:

“Who do you think you are? Robert De Niro?”

Only 38 words less than Ellen.

FBLA thinks there should be a category for actors who are imitated by other actors, but that’s a whole different post.
