California Watch Hires Three More Journos, Reassigns One

The Center for Investigative Reporting’s California Watch hired three new reporters yesterday, the site announced.

Ryan Gabrielson, a 2009 Pulitzer Prize winner, will join California Watch at the end of August as a public safety reporter.

Susanne Rust, a finalist in 2009 for a Pulitzer in investigative reporting, will cover the environment for California Watch starting this month.

And Joanna Lin will join this month as an enterprise reporter.

The company also announced that it’s reassigning Louis Freedberg from director to senior education reporter. “Now that California Watch has successfully launched, Freedberg has expressed a desire to get more directly involved in reporting on California as a way to contribute to solutions to the state’s multiple challenges. Freedberg will also continue to advise California Watch in a number of areas.”
