Gibbs To Step Down As Press Secretary After SOTU

Robert Gibbs is stepping down as the chief spokesman for the White House after Obama delivers his State of the Union address, Fox News reports.

He will serve as an outside adviser to the president and give speeches and make TV appearances on President Obama’s behalf, though he will no longer be the official face of the administration.

“What I’m going to do next is step back a little bit, recharge some,” he said.

A search for Gibbs’ replacement is underway; leading contenders include deputy press secretaries Bill Burton and Josh Earnest and Joe Biden‘s spokesman Jay Carney.
