Happy News: ESPN Launches ‘Outdoors Saltwater’; ‘Garden & Gun’ Saved

More good news today: ESPN Outdoors announced this week that its’ debuting a new title this April: ESPN Outdoors Saltwater. The annual magazine will have the highest circulation of any saltwater fishing magazine in the U.S., Folio reports.

“We have had tremendous support and response from the saltwater fishing manufacturers,” said James Hall, editor, ESPN Outdoors publications, said in a statement. “Overall this is a very experiential edition that will entice the readers with great storytelling and saltwater fishing.”

And in other magazine news, Folio’s also reporting that luxury Southern lifestyle magazine Garden & Gun has been purchased by Indigo Acquisition LLC, saving the title from going out of business. More after the jump.


The new owner is a company co-created by publisher Rebecca Darwin and Evening Post Publishers Co. chairman Pierre Manigault.

Folio:

In January, the Evening Post Publishers Co., a newspaper company that had been publishing Garden & Gun, said it would end its agreement with the Charleston, South Carolina-based magazine effective January 31. Since then, the magazine had been “actively engaged in discussions with investors” to find a way to continue publishing the magazine.

According to publisher Darwin, ad revenue was up 230 percent last year.
