If only we could all say that. This quote came from the mouth of Peter King, a senior writer at Sports Illustrated and the writer of a 12-year Web column that attracts two million readers a week.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, he says that yes, he did volunteer to give back some of his salary to save jobs. “It’s something I did but I really don’t want to talk about it,” he said. “But I will say this: I make a ridiculous amount of money. I’m not saying I’m not worth it. But I make a stupid amount of money. Sometimes it seems a little absurd considering what’s happening in our business.”

We’re not sure yet, but it sounds like SI didn’t take him up on his offer.
