Is Someone Finally Buying The New York Times?

While dozens of newspapers are filing chapter eleven, it seems as if someone is finally stepping up to plate and saving one. Silicon Alley is reporting that stocks for the New York Times are rising, while the market is still plummeting.

For the past week, New York Times stock prices have remained steady at $4 and yesterday&#151with the bounce in the market&#151prices actually increased 15 percent. The volume of New York Times stocks being sold has also gone up. The volume is also up 1.8 percent.

While this is good news for the Grey Lady no one has officially stepped up to the plate to announce they are purchasing the paper, all signs seem to indicate the New York Times has finally found a helpful friend with deep pockets. This could mean great things for the newspaper and the journalist who love it.
