Online advertising company Linkstorm has hired Lou Tosto away from BusinessWeek to be its new SVP of Sales & Operations, we’ve learned. The advertising industry pro has over 20 years of experience with companies such as SmartMoney.com and BusinessWeek/BusinessWeek.com.

Linkstorm counts Cisco, E*Trade, American Express, Wal-Mart, IBM, Microsoft and Chevrolet among its clients, so it’s a plum move for Tosto, who was VP of sales at BW/BW.com. And it sounds like BW’s going to miss Tosto: only last Thursday—four days before the hire was announced—BW.com editor-in-chief John A. Byrne was calling Tosto the “East Coast master of sales” and, apparently, praising his performance at a reception. Sounds like an ouch for BW.com—we’ll update if and when we know more.
