Media General Adds More Furlough Days
Media General Inc., in response to declining ad revenue, is requiring employees to take five furlough days by the end of the year, including one by the end of the third quarter—Sept 27.
The owner of 21 daily newspapers and 18 television stations previously cut payroll by 130 across all its properties, froze its company pension plan, and cut even more jobs, yet has been unable to halt the slide in revenue (another 20% last quarter) that almost all media companies are seeing.
