Topolsky, Engadget Team To SB Nation To Build Tech Site
Joshua Topolsky, formerly editor of Engadget, and his managing editor Nilay Patel both left the tech blog in mid-March, shortly after AOL’s acquisition of the Huffington Post.
Topolsky at the time said he was working on “a few fantasy projects.” Now we know what they are.
He’s joining SB Nation, until now a publisher of sports blogs, to launch a technology news site this fall. And according to David Carr, Topolsky is taking up to eight other Engadget staffers with him.
“We have been working on blogging technology that was developed in 2003, we haven’t made a hire since I started running the site, and I thought we could be more successful elsewhere,” Topolsky told Carr.
SB Nation was founded by former AOL exec Jim Bankoff who, in fact, brokered the original deal to get AOL to purchase Engadget.
