‘Unemployed Man’ Creator Basically Unemployed Himself

Erich Origen and Gan Golan‘s graphic novel about the economic meltdown and unemployment has been getting nothing but rave reviews; maybe that’s because writing it hit pretty close to home for Origen.

Workforce magazine checked in with Origen to ask him a few questions about a minor supervillain, The Human Resource. During the course of the Q&A, we learn that Origen’s been out of a “real” job for a year, but isn’t collecting unemployment because he’s freelancing. Origen says:

“It is scary. I’ve maxed out credit cards and am not sure how we’re going to make it past this month. I’ve got an old steel library book cart. I’ve begun selling the book in public parks—in full costume.”

Here‘s a photo of Origen in his costume (avert your eyes, sensitive folks) at the Rally to Restore Sanity And/or Fear last year.
