Wow, Macworld Still Pays A Guy To Shoot Cover Pictures

UnBeige found a really nifty clip of freelance photographer Peter Belanger, who shot two iPhones for a recent Macworld cover.

Watch the time-lapse video as he and two associates take the cover from start to finish.

But. Think about this.

This shot took (by Belanger’s own estimate) half a day. There are at least three people in the studio, and then there’s the layout guy.

Four people to make a cover.

Yes, it takes that kind of investment to make a consistently good product, but how much longer is Macworld going to be willing to shell out?

Especially when major magazines are already getting their cover images from IStockPhoto?

Sorry to be all doom and gloom, but we really fear for these guys’ jobs.
