TV Lends a Helping Hand in Birth of a New Magazine

On Tuesday, HGTV Magazine will officially hit newsstands. The new title is a joint effort of magazine publishing giant Hearst Corp. and Scripps Network Interactive Inc., which owns several cable channels, including HGTV and the Food Network. Like the HGTV channel, the magazine focuses on home and lifestyle, with articles on everything from home decorating to grill maintenance.
Russian Journalist Attacked In Moscow (The Guardian)
A Russian journalist is in hospital after being lured out of his home and stabbed 20 times late on Monday night. Sergei Aslanyan, 46, works for Radio Mayak and spent 10 years as a presenter on Echo Moskvy, Russia's leading liberal radio station. The Izvestiya newspaper suggested the attack could have been linked to a recent radio appearance during which Aslanyan insulted the prophet Muhammad. News.am "They called me at 11:15. I went out to the corridor and saw a man there. When I approached he attacked me, yelling 'You are an enemy of Allah!'", Aslanyan said.
YouTube Launches Photo App, Lets Viewers Snap & Share Instagram-Style Pictures Of Live Music (SocialTimes)
Over the weekend YouTube launched a brand new custom camera application called FRONTROW that lets viewers snap photos of live streamed performances, just as if they were actually attending the event. The app was launched as part of Vivid LIVE, an annual music event at the Sydney Opera House.
