ABC News Obtains Photos of Flight 253 Explosives Sewn into Suspect’s Underwear

ABC News has obtained four images of the bomb smuggled onto Northwest Airlines flight 253 last Friday. The photos, first broadcast on “World News with Diane Sawyer” as part of a report from ABC investigative correspondent Brian Ross, show the singed underwear of suspect Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab with a packet of explosive powder sewn into the crotch. Ross obtained the photos from a government source. The other images show the package of the PETN explosive powder and the syringe detonator.
