About TVNewserAbout TVNewser: mediabistro.com's TVNewser is a constantly updated weblog covering the television news industry. We cover the cable news networks and broadcast news divisions. TVNewser launched as a part of mediabistro.com on July 26, 2004; prior to that, it was the independently operated CableNewser. CableNewser was inspired by the television coverage of the 2003 war in Iraq, and it launched formally on January 1, 2004.
The site's founding editor, Brian Stelter, established the site when he was a 18-year-old college freshman at Towson University near Baltimore, Maryland. TVNewser has been named one of the most influential blogs in television by the Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. Upon graduating from Towson, Stelter took a job with The New York Times in July, 2007. That month TVNewser's new editorial team was brought on board: editor Chris Ariens, a 15-year TV news producer and manager; and contributors: Gail Shister, one of the foremost Television reporters in the country; former news reporter and anchor Alissa Krinsky and TV news insider Diane Clehane. In November we added associate editor Steve Krakauer, a former Fox News Channel production assistant and NBC page. Previously |
