mediabistro.com's TVNewser is a constantly updated weblog covering the television news industry. Its primary focus is the world of cable news, and it also covers goings-on at the three broadcast networks' news divisions. TVNewser launched as a part of mediabistro.com on July 26, 2004; prior to that, it was the independently operated CableNewser. CableNewser was inspired by the television coverage of the 2003 Iraq war, and it launched formally on January 1, 2004. Brian Stelter, the founder of CableNewser, continues to write TVNewser and is a contributing editor to mediabistro.com.

About Brian Stelter

TVNewser editor Brian Stelter, a contributing editor to mediabistro.com, is an 18-year-old sophomore at Towson University near Baltimore, Maryland, and a native of Maryland's Washington, D.C., suburbs. He founded CableNewser, the predecessor weblog to mediabistro.com's TVNewser, on January 1, 2004, and he ran it anonymously for almost five months, until he was "outed" in a New York Times profile on May 27, 2004. A longtime devotee of cable news, Stelter cites his first "cable news memory" as watching CNN during its coverage of the Oklahoma City bombing, and he has watched MSNBC since its first broadcast day, in 1996.
