Andy Lack on Bloomberg Ratings: ‘Down the line we’ll be measured by Nielsen.’

Andy Lack, CEO of Bloomberg Media Group, says Bloomberg TV will be a full service Nielsen client “down the line.” But when?

“Right now, I’m less interested in the date than getting the content right,” Lack tells Mike Reynolds of Multichannel News. To that end, Bloomberg TV will launch in HD tomorrow in New York City and Northern New Jersey.

“In our research, people said, ‘Give us more data and details. Make it easy to understand, but go deep.’ We have to find that balance,” says Lack, the former president of NBC News.

Tonight, Bloomberg TV’s slick “Game Changers” series returns by profiling media giants, including Rupert Murdoch whose pet project of launching his own business channel was realized in 2007. George Szalai in The Hollywood Reporter writes:

[T]he Murdoch show includes former right-hand man Peter Chernin, who remains a big Hollywood player with his Fox-housed production deal; Fox Sports head David Hill; Anthea Disney, the former CEO of HarperCollins; and Andrew Butcher, Murdoch’s former spokesman.

As Bloomberg waits to enter the ratings game, Murdoch’s Fox Business Network became publicly rated by Nielsen in late March.
