As Russian Troops Move In, Georgian President Takes His Case To Western Media

FNCGeorgia_8.13.jpgFox News and CNN are throwing most of their resources this morning at the shattered cease fire between Russia and Georgia as Russian troops move deeper into Georgia.

Meanwhile, Georgian Pres. Mikhail Saakashvili continues to get his message out on Western media: BBC Monday night. CNN last night and again this morning. And also this morning on CBS’ The Early Show. Saakashvili spoke with anchor Harry Smith:

Russian tanks are going through villages inhabited by Georgian population and throwing people out of the houses, putting people into concentration camps that they are setting up in those villages and separating men and women and doing worse kinds of atrocities, unheard of since Balkans or since the war in Chechnya.

TVNewser also hears Saakashvili may continue his media appearances today (conditions permitting) with an interview on another cable news network. Yesterday, he spoke at rally attended by 15,000 Georgians. CNN and Fox News carried live coverage of that rally during their daytime programs.
