Business & Financial Emmy Noms: CNBC Leads The PackNominations have been announced by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for the 5th Annual Emmy Awards for Business & Financial Reporting. CNBC leads the way with 8 nominations. CBS follows with 7 (3 of those for reports by 60 Minutes' Steve Kroft), PBS earns 6, CNN receives 3, NBC has 2, and Bloomberg gets 1. This year's entries "focused on a wide range of important economic stories, including the subprime mortgage meltdown, the plight of uninsured and underinsured Americans, and the looming fiscal crisis resulting from unsustainable levels of federal spending," said Academy President Peter Price in a press release. New York – October 31, 2007– The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today announced the nominees for the 5th Annual Emmy® Awards for Business & Financial Reporting. The awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, December 4 (11:30 reception, 12:00 noon luncheon) at the Rainbow Room in New York City and will be sponsored by Citigroup, Inc. The Emmy Awards for Business & Financial Reporting recognize outstanding achievement in business & financial reporting telecast or webcast from July 1, 2006 thru June 30, 2007. Nominations in 7 categories were announced today. Also at the 5th Annual Emmy Awards for Business & Financial Reporting, Matthew Winkler, Editor-in-Chief of Bloomberg News, a global news service he founded in1990 with Michael Bloomberg, and a member of the Board of Directors of Bloomberg L.P., will receive this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award in Business & Financial Reporting. Bloomberg News provides content to Bloomberg Markets, a monthly magazine; 375 newspapers in 65 countries; Bloomberg Television and Radio, a 24-hour network reaching more than 80 million households in the U.S. and 12 countries in seven languages. “This year’s Business and Financial Emmy entries focused on a wide range of important economic stories,” said Peter Price, President/CEO, National Television Academy, “including the subprime mortgage meltdown, the plight of un-insured and underinsured Americans, and the looming fiscal crisis resulting from unsustainable levels of federal spending.
