Gibson Honored With Fred Friendly Award
Past honorees of the Friendly award include Christiane Amanpour, Tom Brokaw, Peter Jennings, Bob Schieffer and Lesley Stahl. As an interesting aside, the University is battling students over the school's Newspaper editorial board. The school decided to hand-pick the board for next school year, and that's not sitting well with the students. Quinnipiac Chronicle editors are now considering severing ties with the school permanently. Tuesday Apr 29, 2008

Kimberly Dozier To Be Honored For "Excellence In Journalism"
Dozier will be on hand in Milwaukee to receive her Sacred Cat Award, a tradition since 1973. Previous recipients include Aaron Brown, Judy Woodruff, and Max Robinson. "We are extremely pleased to have Kimberly Dozier as this year's Sacred Cat honoree," said Press Club president Marilyn Krause in a press release. "Her award-winning work as a reporter and foreign correspondent places her among the best of the best, and what she has achieved in the face of numerous challenges is most remarkable. We will be honored to have her with us and hear her story at our Gridiron event." Her story, of course, includes surviving a Baghdad bomb blast in 2006. Dozier's new book Breathing the Fire, in which she writes of the incident and her recovery, comes out May 13. • Earlier: TVNewser's Gail Shister profiles Dozier. Monday Apr 14, 2008
Mirror Awards — ABC's Predator Piece a Finalist
The 20/20 report from Ross and Walter in September 2007 focused on Dateline NBC's To Catch a Predator series, and highlighted the lawsuit arising from the series' stop in Terrell, Texas. The only other tvnewser nominated was also in the Best Investigative Piece category, a PBS Frontline report by Lowell Bergman. If Ross and Walter win, they'll accept the award right in NBC News' house — the ceremony takes place on June 23 in the Rainbow Room at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Tuesday Apr 08, 2008
Haddad Honored for Newsweek's Video Ventures
In February, Haddad coordinated a five-hour live Webcast covering the Super Tuesday primaries. It cost $2,000 to produce, and quickly found a sponsor, Dodge. It was streamed by roughly 100,000; they did another one for the so-called Potomac Primaries a week later. Russert Honored with Newhouse Lifetime Achievement Award
The Mirror Awards honor reporters, editors and teams of writers who "hold a mirror to their own industry for the public's benefit." "Russert was chosen to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award because, especially in an election year, there are few more important roles for the media than its role in the political process," says Newhouse Dean David M. Rubin. "Russert has questioned candidates-and even the practices of his own profession-for over 20 years." The Fred Dressler Lifetime Achievement Award is named for the late cable programming executive and Newhouse School Advisory Board chairman. Saturday Mar 08, 2008
