Gracie Allen Award Winners Announced
CBS and CNN led the pack with four wins each. Here's a breakdown: • At CBS News, Katie Couric was named Outstanding Anchor. Awards also go to the network for Outstanding Magazine (Polygamy: A World Apart), Outstanding Interview Program (President Musharraf), and Outstanding Series (China's Devastating Quake). • CNN's Candy Crowley was honored for Outstanding Feature-Hard News Program (Hillary Clinton's Bid for the White House). CNN also got nods for Outstanding Special (CNN Heroes 2008), Outstanding Investigative Program (America's Dirty Little Secret), and Outstanding Documentary-Mid-Length Format (CNN Presents: Sarah Palin Revealed). • NBC netted three nods, including one for Alex Wallace, for Individual Outstanding Achievement-Outstanding Producer. The network was also cited for Outstanding Documentary-Short Format (Child Soldiers, D.R. Congo) and Outstanding Feature-Hard News Program (Section 60). • CNBC received two Gracies. Its I Am American Business promos were named Outstanding Commercial-Campaign, and Suze Orman won an Individual Achievement Award for Outstanding Host-Information or Entertainment. • ABC earned one nod, for Brian Ross Investigates: Raped in Iraq as Outstanding Investigative Program. Also, ABC's Barbara Walters won an Individual Achievement Award as Outstanding Host-Information or Entertainment for her Sirius/XM Radio program. • MSNBC won one Gracie: Rachel Maddow will receive an Individual Achievement Award for Outstanding Host-News Program. • PBS got one award, for NOW on PBS's Maria Hinojosa as Outstanding Reporter/Correspondent.
