Broadcast, Cable Networks Plan Tucson Memorial Coverage
All four major broadcast networks will air special reports covering the memorial service in Tucson, Arizona at 8 PM this evening.
Shepard Smith will anchor for the Fox broadcast channel. The Smith report will be offered as a “level 2,” so affiliates have the option of carrying it, or not. NBC has Brian Williams, Lester Holt and Savannah Guthrie reporting from Tucson.
Katie Couric will anchorĀ from Washington DC, and Diane Sawyer and George Stephanopoulos will be behind the desk for ABC.
Later this evening at 11:35 PM, ABC will air a special one-hour edition of “Nightline,” anchored by Bill Weir, looking at the latest developments and how the community is coping.
The cable networks will also have live coverage:
CNN will have Wolf Blitzer anchoring, with John King and Jessica Yellin in Arizona.
Update: Fox News will have Bret Baier anchoring from 8-10 PM.
MSNBC will have Keith Olbermann anchoring.
