C-SPAN co-presidents Rob Kennedy and Susan Swain are pleased to announce three new appointments to the cable network’s editorial/technical senior management team, with an eye toward the network’s continuing digital conversion and ongoing enhancements to C-SPAN’s public affairs product.

Richard Weinstein, an 18-year C-SPAN veteran, has been named to the newly-created position of Managing Editor where he will serve as operations deputy to programming VP Terence Murphy. Richard brings experience in editorial, technical, marketing, and management to this position. The Field Department and Assignment Desk will report to Richard and he will be responsible for providing oversight and coordination of C-SPAN’s daily event coverage and major productions and help introduce ongoing technical improvements to C-SPAN’s product.

Ira Lazernik has been named Director of Production Operations. Ira joins C-SPAN from WTTG-TV (Fox) in Washington, DC, where he has served as production manager for the past decade. Ira brings thirty years of television production management experience to C-SPAN. He will oversee master control operations for the three C-SPAN channels as well as the network’s studio production and editing units; he will also be involved with the network’s continuing digital conversion process.

Adam Sharp has been named to the newly-created position of Executive Producer, Digital Services, with responsibility for editorial development and oversight of the network’s C-SPAN.org home page and editorial enhancements to daily public affairs coverage on C-SPAN 3. “As we begin the new year, we are excited to welcome new colleagues into these positions.
