Cable News Nets Becoming Obsolete…

Following up on yesterday’s post: In an interview on The Media Center Web site, CBS Digital Media president Larry Kramer thinks the “growth trajectory” of cable news networks was “slowed quite dramatically” with the advent of the Internet:

“I don’t think [cable news networks are] growing all that much because I think the thing that made them most attractive — which was that it was the fastest place to get news — has really started to fade because the Web has become a much faster place to get the kind of news you want,” he says…

> Update: 2:10pm: “CBS is trying to find a way to stave off the embarrassment of not having a cable news network of its own — their news division and their deep bench of dinosaurs is what’s become obsolete,” an industry insider replied…
