Just after 4:34pmET, MSNBC’s David Shuster broke the news that Sen. Barack Obama‘s grandmother had passed away from cancer. CNN reported the news two minutes later, breaking into the same Sen. Joe Biden speech that MSNBC had been covering. Fox News announced the news at 4:35pmET, with a lower third during a Your World interview of NAACP Washington bureau director, Hilary Shelton. Neil Cavuto announced the news just before the commercial break at 4:39pmET.
