Cablers Cover Hostage Rescue

While Sen. John McCain was paying a visit to Colombia, more news was breaking out of the South American country this afternoon. At 3:19pmET, CNN first reported the rescue of several hostages who’d been held for nearly six years. Juan Carlos Lopez (of CNN en Espanol) reported on the rescue, while images from Colombian national television aired. Fox News had the breaking news minutes later, from correspondent Steve Harrigan, currently embedded with the Colombian military. He did a phone interview just before boarding a military chopper. MSNBC had the news about 20 minutes later.
