CBS News Political Director Heads to Allbritton Communications

Michael Calderone reports that Steve Chaggaris, political director at CBS News, is leaving the network to join Allbritton Communications, the media organization that owns a number of television stations as well as Calderone’s site, Politico.com.

In a memo to CBS staff, Chaggaris writes, “Next week, I will begin a new challenge at Allbritton Communications, better known as the owner of POLITICO. I have accepted a job as Director of Television Projects/Senior Executive Producer where, initially, I will focus on helping launch a new metro D.C. news website/cable channel.”

He had been with the network for 10 years.
