Changes At CNN Headline News

Several e-mailers have recently pointed to signs that CNN Headline News is becoming more like its older brother, CNN/U.S.

Is it true that CNN laid off the ticker staff at Headline News this week? “Headline News will now use the CNN ticker people for HLN as well,” an anonymous tipster says. “CNN Headline News has been taking on a number of changes in the past few months and many think it is starting to look more and more like CNN.”

From another e-mailer, earlier this week: “In preparation for their little format shift on the 21st, it looks like their breaks are becoming more fluid — at least at night. They usually work like clockwork…hence, their wheel format. But now, it is becoming more…um…CNN-ish.”

I also hear there’s a rumor around the shop that “Showbiz Tonight” and “Nancy Grace” may “preview” themselves on CNN the night before their official launch on the 21st…
