Charles Rangel Apologizes to Luke Russert Following Heated Exchange

U.S. Congressman Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) has apologized to NBC News Congressional Correspondent Luke Russert following a heated exchange yesterday afternoon.

Yesterday, Russert asked Rangel if he was worried he would lose his job due to an ethics investigation currently underway. The conversation that followed ended up appearing on the “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams“:

After telling Rangel he worked for NBC, the congressman responded:

“It doesn’t really sound like NBC asking these dumb questions, but it just shows what has really happened to a channel that did have some respect.”

He changed his tune today, saying in a news conference:

“I had a very good conversation with Luke Russert and apologized for the way I treated him on television.”
