Christiane Amanpour anchors from Cairo
As she did in the wake of the tragedy in Tucson, Christiane Amanpour has taken “This Week” on the road, this time to Egypt to cover the unrest there.
Among Amanpour’s guests, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who made the rounds appearing on “Meet the Press,” “Face the Nation,” “FOX News Sunday” and CNN’s “State of the Union.” Another of Amanpour’s guests: Zbigniew Brzezinski, Pres. Carter’s National Security Advisor, and father of MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski. The signal from Cairo dropped in the middle of the Brzezinski interview, at which point Jake Tapper took over from Washington and promoted the roundtable which he moderated.
Amanpour arrived in Cairo yesterday afternoon and, while at the airport, she spoke to tourists and foreign nationals waiting to leave Egypt. From her location in downtown Cairo, ABC News cameras captured Egyptian Air Force jets overhead.
CNN’s Anderson Cooper is en route to Cairo at this hour. One of his last Tweets last night before what will no doubt be a Twitter outage was:
Been waiting for hours for delayed flight. Heading to #Egypt.
