Earlier this afternoon in the White House briefing room, the president surprised the press, in particular Thomas, by presenting her with cupcakes and a kiss, which led CNN anchor Kyra Phillips to wonder if the 89-year-old can still be objective after getting a wet one from the commander-in-chief.
