Citi: One Of CNBC’s Big Advertisers? No

Maria Bartiromo “routinely” makes “promotional appearances at corporate events” on behalf of CNBC, and many of those corporations advertise on the business net. “Citigroup is among the biggest advertisers,” today’s NYT reported, citing a network spokesperson.

But according to Nielsen Ad Monitor Plus, Citigroup is #248 on their list of advertisers in 2006 — a far cry from being one of the “biggest.” (Nielsen’s numbers are an estimate, of course, but they can’t be far from the ofifcial count.) Apparently the Times didn’t fact-check the assertion…
