CNBC’s Ron Insana Leaving Anchor Desk

insanafeb20.jpgAnother shoe drops at CNBC: Ron Insana is off the anchor desk. The veteran CNBCer is becoming a “senior analyst” for the business news network, offering “daily commentary” and appearing on Squawk Box once a month.

Insana is apparently ready to cash in on his name recognition: He is “planning to start his own business and a subscription-based financial newsletter” independent of CNBC.

Insana says: “This is something I’ve thought about for a long time and when the opportunity presented itself, it was very difficult to pass up. CNBC very graciously offered the chance for me to stay in-house while pursuing outside ventures.” Here’s the press release…

> No word yet on who will replace Insana on Street Signs at 2pm…
