Team of CNN iReporters and CBS’s Jennifer Ashton Compete in NYC-Area Triathlons

Fox Business Network’s Liz Claman will have some familiar competition in tomorrow’s New York City triathlon — CNN’s chief medical correspondent, Sanjay Gupta.

Gupta has been training for six months with a group of six CNN iReporters from around the country. The group — who are pictured here at their halfway-point training session in Kona, Hawaii — have been documenting their training experience on CNN”s Fit Nation website.

CBS medical correspondent Jennifer Ashton has also caught the triathlon bug: the 42-year-old mother of two placed sixth overall in her age group at the Pequannock Triathlon in New Jersey last weekend. Ashton, who competed with her husband, had been training since January. They are currently training for another triathlon — this time with their two children — that takes place early next year.

>Update: Gupta has been sent out on assignment for CNN and will not compete in tomorrow’s race. The CNN iReporter team will still compete as planned.
