Congress And Congressional Reporters Have A Testy Day At Press Conferences

In advance of President Obama’s press conference this afternoon, Democratic and Republican Congressional leaders held their own pressers this morning. The Democrats talked about Nancy Pelosi staying on as House minority leader, while the Republicans talked about the Benghazi consulate attack. Both pressers had politicians ripping into the people that cover them.

NBC News correspondent Luke Russert asked Pelosi whether the Democratic House leadership was too old, and that the leaders were preventing younger members from taking on prominent roles. Russert was greeted by boos from Pelosi’s colleagues, as the minority leader ignored the question.

Later on, Senator John McCain was asked by a reporter whether intelligence that General Petraeus may have shared in email correspondence could be a greater threat to security than the attack on Benghazi. “That is one of the dumbest questions I have ever heard,” McCain replied.
