Couric Watch: Announcement “That She Is Leaving NBC” Could Come This Week

“Katie Couric‘s deal to move to CBS News is completed in principle, and an announcement that she is leaving NBC might come as early as this week,” Television Week reports. (Drudge has linked to the story, and the server seems to be down.)

A tipster says: “CBS News management has booked studio space at the W. 57th St Broadcast Center next week. Insiders speculate this will be the setting for the public announcement of Katie Couric’s move to Tiffany network. Both Eye and Peacock eager to conclude negotiations before the all-important “upfronts” to advertisers in May. Therefore, NBC likely allowed Couric to conduct negotiations and announce move next week, despite the fact that her contract officially has not expired.”
