Covering Kennedy: Networks Bring Out Biases ‘In Slightly New Ways’

Some more write-ups on the coverage — so far — of the death of Ted Kennedy

• Los Angeles Times: The death of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy was the first of a liberal politician of legendary stature since the rise of the cable news networks and as such it brought out their biases in slightly new ways.

• New York Newsday: Viewers hunting for – or avoiding – instances of presumed network bias needn’t have bothered. CNN and MSNBC probably spread out a little more widely than Fox News Channel, but the latter matched their emotional pitch: “He was a good man and we remember him as that today,” said “Studio B” anchor Shepard Smith.
