Diane Sawyer “Is Not A Candidate For The Anchor Job” At WNT

ABC News vice president Jeffrey Schneider has responded to B&C’s report that Diane Sawyer is eyeing the WNT chair:

“I just spoke with Diane Sawyer and David Westin regarding the rumor in Broadcasting and Cable and here’s the bottom line: Diane is not a candidate for the anchor job at World News Tonight and she has never asked to come off of GMA. In a post Peter Jennings world, everyone at ABC News is being asked to step up and help fill the void so you can expect to see Diane doing more — in addition to GMA — like primetime documentaries.”
