Did DHS Secretary Set Pre-Conditions For Morning Show Interviews?
Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano made the morning show rounds today, hitting all six programs for brief interviews from Mexico. Napolitano was on to talk about Pres. Obama’s trip south of the border, but the anchors and show hosts also wanted to talk about this report regarding “right-wing extremists.”
Following her interview on MSNBC, Joe Scarborough said he got a call saying “we can only ask one question about this story.” And so, he complied.
But what about the other morning shows?
During her Fox News interview, Napolitano was asked four follow-ups about the report. On CBS, NBC and ABC there was one follow-up about the report (although the ABC question and follow-up were about terrorism in general). CNN asked about the report, but no follow-up.
