Discovery Gunman Spoke to NBC News Producer During Standoff
During “NBC Nighty News” this evening, Brian Williams revealed that James Lee, the gunman that held hostages at the headquarters of Discovery Communications, spoke to an NBC News producer for about 10 minutes during the standoff.
Apparently a producer called Discovery’s main switchboard, and Lee picked up the phone in the lobby of the building.
“We chose, out of an abundance of caution, not to reveal that information until this incident was over,” correspondent Tom Costello told Williams during the newscast.
